Doing a beach maternity session was a no-brainer for Makennah and Luke. This couple loves the water and spends most of their free time soaking up the sun at Jacksonville Beach.

I first connected with Makennah when she was still doing wedding photography. Makennah’s family owns Catered Cocktails, a popular bartending service in Jacksonville, FL. I watched this couple grow together and was honored to be asked to be their maternity photographer.
WHAT’S IT LIKE TAKING Beach MATERNITY PHOTOS?
Jacksonville has some amazing beaches. We chose Jacksonville Beach because of it’s easy location for our couple and the variety of backgrounds. The idea was to incorporate a mix of natural elements and the boardwalk.
We ended up moving around to capture the waves, sand, and dunes in the background. The entire time, Luke and Makennah were so sweet together. They laughed together, leaned on each other, and you could tell they were enjoying themselves.
INCLUDING YOUR SONOGRAM IN Your Maternity SESSION
The hardest part of the session was keeping their special prop free of water and sand. Did you spot it in the photos? That’s right, we broke out the sonogram! Adding a sonogram is a precious, personalization to bring into your maternity session. Not only does it allow you to preserve the images (because they can fade over time!) but it’s a beautiful memory to capture. Even when we’re going outdoors or trekking around the beach sand, we always encourage you to include yours, if you’d like to.
Between you and me, I can’t wait to meet this little one. Makennah and Luke are going to make the best parents!
