The 6 Best Beaches in North Florida for a Babymoon

Before we even get into this post, Imma tell you now that this is a pro Babyboon space! You’ve spent the last several months excitedly getting ready to welcome your baby into the world. Now that it’s almost here, you deserve to take a moment to celebrate this amazing leap you and your partner are about to make.

You’re about to become parents! (For some of you, again!)

Whether this is your first or fifth baby, it’s important to prioritize celebrating and strengthening the bond you have with your partner. After all, you’re about to become a new kind of team.

And that means it’s time to plan what to do on your babymoon to a tropical beach destination in Florida.

If you’re fuzzy on what a babymoon is, stick with me here. If you want to jump to the 6 beaches, keep scrolling down for that list!

What is a babymoon vacation?

Think of a babymoon as a pre-baby honeymoon for you and your partner. Most expecting parents try to take one at least halfway through their pregnancy (up to about 30-32 weeks) so it gives you a break before the baby comes.

Babymoons are a great time to recharge your batteries and really soak up being pregnant. Plus, like I hinted at before, they’re a great time to reconnect with your partner. You know how it is, it’s a time for you to be wild, free, and kids yourself before stepping happily into the role of new parents!

If you ask me, I would recommend choosing a babymoon destination that is something you’ll both love but may have a hard time doing with a newborn. That means the best babymoon destination will look different for everyone. Some Mamas may want to spend time walking along a sandy beach while others may want to take a European cruise. (Feel free to invite me to either!)

Letting older children tag along

A big debate and source of guilt I see around babymooning is around taking children on your trip. I can’t tell you what the best answer is. However, you can always consider taking a babymoon and a family vacation or combing the two. Doing either of these is a great way to love on soon-to-be older siblings and give them space to bond with you before the baby. I’ve had Mamas who have done it both ways and none of them have regretted their decisions.

But…I’ll stick my nose right out of your 1 vacation or 2 vacations debate. 😉

6 of the Best Beach Destinations & Resorts in Florida for a Babymoon

Let’s move on to the most important decision – which Florida beaches are the best destination for babymoons. I’ve come up with six beaches and my favorite local resort for each beach! Starting with right in my own backyard – Jacksonville Beach.

Ponte Vedra Inn & Club in Jacksonville Beach, FL

Jacksonville Beach is a great place to go for your babymoon. There are tons of restaurants, things to do, live music, and festivals year-round. My favorite place to recommend to parents is the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club, located right on the beach. It’s beautiful and there are things to do for everything.

Plus, a huge bonus is the luxurious 30,000-square-foot spa. Honestly, need I say more, Queen?! You could spend a whole day or two getting dolled up and soaking in your new mama glow before you even use half their services. It’s a great choice to relax before giving birth.

Things to do on Jacksonville Beach:

  • Shell and shark tooth hunting
  • Kayaking
  • Picnics
  • Swimming
  • Sunbathing

Things to do at Ponte Vedra Inn & Club Resort:

  • Pool Time
  • World-Class Spa with facials, scrubs, manicures, and pedicures
  • Golf
  • Tennis

Omni Amelia Island Resort in Fernandina Beach, FL

The Omni is so much fun! If you’re a foodie, you definitely want to look into this resort. They have 9 on-site restaurants! Like most Florida resorts, the Omni has a golf course and tennis courts. They also have indoor and outdoor pools, a great spa, and a private beach.

Things to do at the Omni Amelia Island Resort:

  • 9 restaurants!
  • Beach cabana rentals
  • Golf
  • Tennis

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Amelia Island

If you want a more romantic getaway, The Ritz-Carlton in Amelia Island is perfect. This resort is known for its sand dunes. They have poolside restaurants, dune-side restaurants, and a wellness spa. They’re also beautiful, did I mention that? It’s a huge wedding spot for a reason! You and your partner will absolutely love it.

Things to do at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel:

  • 4+ restaurants
  • Wellness spa with Japanese massages and gua sha
  • Poolside Time
  • Close to museums
  • Golf
  • Tennis

One Ocean Resort & Spa in Atlantic Beach, FL

One Ocean Resort is another sandy, beachside destination for your babymoon in North Florida. It’s perfect for spending all day on the sand dunes or taking a detour to do some much-needed retail therapy nearby.

This babymoon destination is definitely for the couple who are more into exploring the town and finding adventure. It’s great if you have kids with you who want to split their time between the beach, the pool, and some non-beach activities.

Things to do at the Omni Amelia Island Resort:

  • On-site Restaurant
  • Spa with Couples Massages
  • Poolside Time
  • Close to The Beaches Town Center for shopping and more restaurant choices

St. Augustine Babymoon at a Historic Bed & Breakfast

Ok, this last one is more of a category than a singular destination. But can you blame me?! St. Augustine is one of the most beautiful towns in all of North Florida. It’s literally filled with the cutest, coziest bed and breakfasts everywhere you turn.

If I had to pick any of the locations on this list to spent a whole week at – St. Augustine Beach will always be top of my list. No matter what your vibe is, you’ll find a B&B to fit that aesthetic. When you and your partner aren’t poolside, you can walk the town. There are tons of shops, museums, historic architecture, pubs and restaurants, spooky ghost tours, and pirate festivals. You name it, they have it.

You’ll have a blast here.

One more thing to plan during your beach babymoon…

North Florida really has some amazing babymoon-worthy beaches. You won’t regret taking some R&R time before welcoming a newborn. But, since you’re here…I’m going to throw in one last idea that is also a shameless plug!

If you’re planning to carve out time for yourself and your partner, you might as well really take time to celebrate this stage in your life. Booking a couple’s maternity photoshoot is a great way to memorize your babymoon. It’s a uniquely intimate way to connect with your partner in a totally fun and romantic way. Plus, you’ll be able to show these photos to your children when their older and tell them all about the babymoon they went on with you.

I would love to photograph you on your vacation!
